Leadership and Technology Teams

GTE's leadership and technology teams have a proven global value creation and growth track record in energy and industrial space. Top industry technology experts were recruited and dozens of patents have been granted. The team is made up of sought-after experts in modeling, optimisation, and environmental solutions. All have delivered extraordinary value in their careers at some of the worlds most recognised OEMs and power generation companies. The team is a unique and not an easily duplicated set of individuals that have demonstrated it can rival OEMs in modeling and understanding of system physics. They are routinely called upon by OEMs, service companies and end users to solve issues concerning performance, availability and life expectancy of turbines and their auxiliary systems.

World-class operational teams have been put in place and global operations have expanded. Long-term agreements have been signed with most of the world's leading OEMs to exclusively use GTE's technology.

In 2008, product lines and capabilities were expanded to include Fuel Management Solutions; Fluid, Instrument and Electrical Controls Products and Services; Design and Build of Combustion Turbine Auxiliaries, Field Services and Industrial Turbine Auxiliaries Parts Sourcing Services.

History

GTE began developing its response to engine inefficiency in 1987. Chief Technologist Peter Asplund recognised the limitations of low-pressure systems used in cleaning aviation engines and introduced the industry's high-pressure solution. His scientific advancements identified the optimal water pressure, droplet size, temperature and volume to compliment a unique nozzle configuration. Today, GTE's internationally patented high pressure solutions are cleaning engines globally. GTE's development efforts are across several industries and their respective segments, and are driven by a continued commitment to applied science and a passion for performance and a cleaner environment.

Proven Patented Product Portfolio

GTE invests heavily in technology improvements and has a patented portfolio that allows customer indemnification for use of GTE technology. The portfolio creates differentiation, barriers to entry, and extreme value to those who apply the technology. Return on investment for GTE products have been documented in less than three months. Exceptional end user benefits related to emissions reductions, life expectancy of parts and systems, and availability are also common. The patent and application pipeline has grown 400% in two years. This proven portfolio is the foundation for products and systems installed with more than 18 million operating hours. Patents are focused on Compressor Water Wash and Power Augmentation.

EcoValue™

Gas turbine users are under constant pressure for improvements in profitability and their facilities' impact to the environment. GTE's EcoValue™ product lines are proven to address these needs. An EcoValue™ product has been validated by GTE to deliver economic and ecological environmental improvements to its clients. GTE works with OEMs, service companies, operators, and end users to improve systems, cycles and parts. The focus is on improved performance and availability, fuel efficiency, restoration of optimal design, and parts life extension.

For example, the ~0.7% efficiency of the EcoValue™ Compressor Cleaning System could yield up to ~$2 billion of economic value year after year. From an operator's point of view, paybacks generally range in the four to six month timeframe, making it a very compelling investment based solely on fuel efficiency savings.

Favorable Market Drivers

GTE's strong fundamentals are enhanced by favorable long-term macro trends. Energy demand continues to grow, which requires more investment in power generation and oil & gas infrastructure.

Growing concern about climate change has led to unprecedented pressure on the industry to reduce carbon emissions. In 2007, this debate moved to the top of the global agenda: Al Gore winning the Nobel Prize and a UN intergovernmental report on global warming were two major events that have led to a new consensus to reduce carbon emissions 50% by 2050. It will also further develop carbon trading mechanisms.

Fuel costs and other competitive pressures on gas turbine operators continue to build. Oil reached in excess of $100 a barrel, and limited supplies are driving operators to use a wider range of fuels and alternative fuel sources.

These trends have provided a strong impetus for operators to seek innovative solutions such as those provided by GTE. The Group has deep knowledge and products and solutions to address these needs.

OEM Agreements In Place

GTE successfully concluded the first phase of an extensive program of product qualifications with four global industrial OEMs, culminating in five major long-term commercial contracts. These were a five-year agreement with one of the major industry manufacturers of small to mid-range turbines; a three-year extension of GTE's exclusive agreement with Siemens AB; a three-year contract extension with Rolls Royce; and two new three-year contracts with two of the world's largest OEMs in the sector. During the period, OEM agreements increased to eight reflecting the broad appeal of GTE's solutions.

Growth Platform

Fuel Management

Fuel consumption in a gas turbine plant can range up to 75% of an operating plant's budget. The cost and quality of fuel gas is constantly changing and must be managed. The Fuel Management platform was developed to position GTE for the significant industry opportunities expected to be created by higher fuel prices, tightening emissions standards, and movement to alternate fuels.

GTE provides high performance flow metering, conditioning and analysis systems that exceed applicable codes and industry standards. GTE provides fully integrated skid-based systems that include appropriate components to measure quality constituencies, composition and BTU or caloric content.
