Design Tools

GTE deploys a rapid, holistic and methodical design rigor to the systems being developed. The combination of GTE's unique gas turbine knowledge & understanding, advanced modeling & optimisation capabilities, in-house packaging & manufacturing and the design tollgates, testing and validations processes used, offers significant safeguards and value for its clients. GTE products and systems are designed using a combination of analytical and experimental tools. Products are geometrically modeled with SolidWorks. A Finite Element Structural analysis is performed with ANSYS for prediction of component temperature, stress, displacements and vibration. The aero, pressure drop, heat transfer and emissions performance of these systems are modeled with the Computational Fluid Dynamics Code STAR-CD and turbine and power plant cycle performance is modeled using GATECYCLE. In addition to these computational tools, GTE makes use of laboratory wind tunnel and field testing with advanced instrumentation to measure and validate the performance of combustion systems and components.

Qualifications

 GTE products and systems are qualified in the field and in laboratory testing using performance and flow measurement to indicate component, subsystem and gas turbine performance. GTE's technology team considers the entire cycle in the design of products and systems. All systems are designed considering safety, the environment, constructability, operability and maintainability.
